Decorative Diyas

We celebrated Diwali yesterday...my kids had fun with the rangoli decoration. I also decorated some clay diyas to look more beautiful & attractive.

Here's how - All you need is some plain clay diyas, paint (I used glitter paint, leftover from my kid's project), glue & some gemstones/rhinestones/small mirrors.

First clean the diyas to remove any dirt or dust on its surface. Paint them using the color of your choice. Once the paint dries, use some glue to stick the gemstones/mirrors onto the diya. Let them dry well for a few hrs.

Light your beautiful diyas by adding some oil & a wick or by placing a tea light candle inside it.

Dear Readers,

Welcome to Craft & Creativity...

Everybody is creative in some way...some have the talent for it, some do it by necessity...In my case, (If I may say so myself) it's both :-)

Earlier in my school days, we had art/craft classes once a week. It was more on a "have-to-do" basis because the marks in art would add to your total marks at the end of the academic year. In our school, this class was called S.U.P.W. Many of my friends expanded it as "Some Useful Period Wasted".

I remember in 8th grade, we were taught knitting & were asked to complete knitting a baby set ( sweater, cap & booties) by the end of the academic year. I managed to knit the cap & booties myself. But had a hard time finishing the sweater, which later my grandmother helped finish for me.

Now, being a mother of two, it has become more of a necessity to be creative. I also enjoy doing these little things while puts a smile on my child's face...it also helps to stay within budget :-)
